Description
American Board is a 501(c)(3) non profit offering flexible, affordable online, self‑paced teacher certification across 11+ U. Formerly known as the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence, the program empowers career changers, paraprofessionals and working adults to earn certification in subjects such as elementary education, mathematics, science, English, history, reading endorsement, and special education—without quitting jobs, accruing debt, or enrolling in classes. Candidates prepare for a subject area exam and a Professional Teaching Knowledge (PTK) pedagogy exam using fully online workbooks and study resources. Most learners complete certification in 7–10 months, with the option to finish in as few as 2–3 months. The certification is accepted in public and private schools as well as international institutions, and may be used in lieu of a master’s degree in education to qualify for initial or temporary state teaching licensure.
